Allen Meadows
Allen Meadows
Allen Meadows, often referred to as "Burghound," is one of the world’s foremost authorities on Burgundy. His journey from a corporate career to becoming a globally respected wine critic is an inspiring tale of passion and dedication.
Meadows worked in the corporate finance world for nearly two decades, primarily in Los Angeles. Although his career was lucrative, his love for wine, especially Burgundy, grew as a hobby and obsession. In the 1970s, Meadows began collecting wines, and by the mid-1990s, he had amassed a profound knowledge of Burgundy’s unique terroirs and producers. In 1999, he left his corporate career to focus entirely on wine, launching Burghound.com, a subscription-based publication dedicated to Burgundy, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay.
Burghound.com was the first comprehensive publication dedicated exclusively to a single wine region. Meadows’ detailed, meticulously researched reviews cover the region’s complexity, from small producers to legendary domaines. His tasting notes are known for their precision, context, and insight. Through his work, he has become an indispensable guide for collectors, sommeliers, and wine enthusiasts worldwide.
