More About The Producer

Château Canon, a Premier Grand Cru Classé B estate in Saint-Émilion, boasts a rich history dating back to the 18th century. Originally part of the Clos Saint-Martin vineyard, it was established as Château Canon in 1804 by the Boitard de la Poterie family. In 1996, the estate was acquired by Alain and Gérard Wertheimer, owners of the luxury brand Chanel, who have since invested significantly in its revitalization.

Under the stewardship of the Wertheimer family, Château Canon has achieved remarkable acclaim. The estate's flagship wine, Château Canon, is a blend predominantly of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, reflecting the unique terroir of Saint-Émilion. Renowned for its elegance, complexity, and aging potential, the wine has garnered exceptional reviews, with vintages consistently earning 97 points or higher from esteemed critics worldwide since 2014.

The estate's commitment to quality is evident in its meticulous vineyard management and winemaking practices. The average age of the Merlot vines is 60 years, with some plots reaching 80 years, contributing to the wine's depth and character. The vineyards are situated on clay-limestone and clay-sand soils, which retain heat and naturally protect the vines from spring frost. The winemaking process emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing the natural expression of the grapes and terroir.
