More About The Producer

Pooley Wines is one of Tasmania’s most esteemed and historic wineries, recognized for producing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Pooley family’s winemaking journey began in the early 1980s when Gillian and John Pooley discovered a parcel of land in the Coal River Valley, which is located just northeast of Hobart. Tasmania, known for its cool maritime climate, proved to be the ideal environment for growing high-quality grapes, and the Pooleys were quick to recognize its potential for producing world-class wines. In 1985, the family planted their first vines on the property, and this marked the beginning of Pooley Wines.

The estate’s primary vineyard, Pooley Vineyard, spans over 15 hectares and is planted with a mix of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Gris. The region’s soils are composed of deep alluvial deposits, and the vineyard is characterized by gently sloping hills, which allow for optimal vine growth.

Pooley is now one of the blue chip wineries from Tasmania and is well worth collecting, with a diverse range of price points, it offers something for every wine enthusiast to explore. If you're visiting Tasmania, we highly recommend stopping by Pooley Winery for lunch—it's set in one of the island's most picturesque and tranquil locations.
