More About The Producer

Tenuta San Guido is best known for producing Sassicaia, one of Italy’s most famous wines. The estate was founded by Mario Incisa della Rocchetta in the 1940s, inspired by Bordeaux-style wines. Sassicaia was first released commercially in 1968 and later became the first wine to earn its own DOC designation (Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC) in 1994. In 2018, Wine Spectator ranked Sassicaia 2015 as the No. 1 wine in the world.

A curiosity is that Sassicaia was initially produced only for family consumption before gaining worldwide recognition. Today, the estate continues to be managed by the Incisa della Rocchetta family, maintaining its reputation as a benchmark for Italian fine wine.
