More About The Producer

The wines of Domaine Francois Raveneau continue to be some of the most exclusive, sought after and highly prized wines in the world. There is no doubt that Domaine Francois Raveneau is the King of Chablis and challenges the iconic Grand Cru Montrachet from the Cote de Beaune. The estate was founded in 1948 when Francois Raveneau combined his family vineyards with the love of his life, his wife Andree Dauvissat's family holdings (Rene Dauvissat's sister), this entwined two of the most renowned producers in the region. François Raveneau was a visionary who seized some of the most sought-after vineyards in Burgundy. With his meticulous attention to detail, he crafted one of the most successful and revered stories in the world of wine. The wines have a steely magnificence that captures the essence of Chablis’ distinctive terroir and many believe that they don't hit their stride until it's at least 8-10 years old. In our experiences at The World of Wine once the wines are aged we see them not only acquire even greater richness but layer upon layer of previously hidden flavours are revealed. Along with Rene Dauvissat, Francois Raveneau pioneered the use of typical White Burgundy winemaking techniques in Chablis, including barrel fermentation and extended less contact. We get access to these beautiful wines a couple of times a year, be quick to get in and secure your order.
