Domaine Louis Moreau, established in 1814, is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Chablis, Burgundy. The Moreau family's passion for winemaking has been passed down through six generations, culminating in the current stewardship of Louis Moreau, who, along with his wife Anne, founded the domain in 1994. Louis, after studying oenology in California, returned to Chablis to infuse modern techniques into the family's traditional practices. The estate's vineyards span 50 hectares, encompassing all four appellations of Chablis: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru. Notably, Domaine Louis Moreau owns parcels in four of Chablis' seven grand cru climats, including the esteemed Les Clos vineyard. Their wines are celebrated for their minerality, finesse, and elegance, reflecting the unique Kimmeridgian limestone soils of the region. Under Louis Moreau's guidance, the winery has embraced sustainable viticulture, reducing pesticide use and promoting biodiversity in the vineyards. This commitment to environmental stewardship, combined with a focus on low-intervention winemaking and extended élevage, allows the wines to express the purest essence of their terroir. The result is a portfolio of exceptional Chablis wines that honor tradition while embracing modernity.
