There are few names in Australian wine as special as Giaconda, home to one of the best Chardonnay on our shores. Giaconda was founded in 1982 by Rick Kinzbrunner, a mechanical engineer turned winemaker, who is celebrated as one of Australia’s most influential vignerons. After honing his skills in renowned wine regions such as Napa Valley, Burgundy, and Alsace, Kinzbrunner returned to Australia to establish his own winery. He chose the Beechworth region for its unique granitic soils, cool climate, and elevated position, which he believed could produce wines of remarkable complexity and depth. Rick Kinzbrunner a lover of Burgundy and in pursuit of excellence decided to plant Chardonnay, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo and Roussane. His signatue winemaking style shows a rare combination of power and finesse. The name "Giaconda" was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa (La Gioconda), symbolizing artistry and timeless elegance. Over the years, Kinzbrunner's meticulous approach to winemaking has elevated Giaconda to cult status among wine enthusiasts and critics. Giaconda Chardonnay is the Grand Cru wine in the New World and a wine that can challenge the great White Burgundies.
