More About The Producer

Castellare di Castellina was founded in 1977 through the merging of five farms in the Castellina area. The estate spans approximately 80 hectares with 33 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 350 to 400 meters that provides excellent sun exposure while allowing for cooler temperatures at night. This is a diurnal weather climate pattern that fosters complexity in the grapes. One of Castellare di Castellina’s most famous wines is I Sodi di San Niccolò, a "Super Tuscan" made primarily from Sangioveto and a small percentage of Malvasia Nera. The wine has gained critical acclaim for its depth, structure and aging potential. I Sodi di San Niccolò is often regarded as one of the best Super Tuscans, even though it doesn’t contain international varieties. Instead, it remains true to Tuscan roots with its emphasis on native grapes. Castellare di Castellina is renowned for its iconic wine labels, which feature illustrations of local bird species. This tradition reflects the estate’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and biodiversity and the birds symbolize the unspoiled environment in which the vineyards are cultivated.
