Fontodi, situated in the heart of Tuscany's Chianti Classico region, has been a family-owned estate since 1968. Manetti's passion for Sangiovese led to the creation of Flaccianello della Pieve in 1981, a 100% Sangiovese wine that has since become an icon of the estate. Flaccianello della Pieve is crafted from the estate's best Sangiovese grapes, primarily sourced from the Conca d'Oro (Golden Shell) in Panzano, an area renowned for its exceptional vineyard sites. The wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels, with a portion in new oak to enhance complexity. This meticulous process results in a wine that balances power and elegance, with rich fruit flavors and a long, harmonious finish.
