More About The Producer

Te Mata Estate, nestled in the heart of Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, is a beacon of winemaking excellence and heritage. Established in 1896 by the Chambers family, it is New Zealand's oldest continuously operating winery. The estate was originally part of Te Mata Station, a large pastoral landholding established by English immigrant John Chambers in 1854. After returning from France, John's third son, Bernard, planted the first vines in 1892, marking the beginning of Te Mata Estate's storied history. The flagship wine is called the Colleraine, a Bordeaux Blend that sits on the throne wearing the royal crown in New Zealand. This illustrious wine isn't just a bottle; it's an icon, much like Australia's Penfolds Grange. Coleraine is the stuff of legends, the most collected wine in New Zealand, cherished by connoisseurs and collectors alike. If you’re unfamiliar with this iconic Bordeaux blend but enjoy wines like Cullen Diana Madeline, Mount Mary Quintet, Yarra Yering Dry Red No. 1, and other local gems, we highly recommend adding Te Mata Coleraine to your collection. It's a must-try that aligns perfectly with those styles.
