More About The Producer

Château La Conseillante ranks among the elite producers in Pomerol, with a history dating back to 1735. The estate has been under the stewardship of the Nicolas family since 1874. Spanning 13 hectares, La Conseillante's vineyards are situated on a plateau in eastern Pomerol, bordering the Saint-Émilion appellation. This 'Pomerol Plateau' has unique terroir perfectly suited for growing Merlot as there is a high density of clay in the subsoil structure which fosters greater water retention and a longer ripening phase for the grape - this is one of the reasons why the greatest Merlot producers in Bordeaux are all centralised around this tiny area. The notable neighbours include L’Évangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château-Certan and Cheval Blanc. Château La Conseillante primarily cultivates Merlot (around 80%) and Cabernet Franc (approximately 20%). The team at The World of Wine adores Chateau La Conseillante and highly recommends it to anyone Bordeaux collector.
