The Pira family, with roots in viticulture since the 1600s, became known for traditional Barolo production under Gigi Pira, the last to use foot treading and no modern equipment. In 1980, Chiara Boschis and her family took over, bringing both respect for tradition and a spirit of innovation.
Chiara became one of the first female Barolo producers in the late 1980s, later joined by her brother Giorgio in 2010. Today, the estate produces about 40,000 bottles annually, exclusively from estate vineyards, farmed manually and certified organic since 2014.
