Dense, intense and complex syrah that combines power and finesse. A deep, dark wine with a heady perfume and dark berry, plum, violet and pepper-spice flavours. Clearly a wine worth cellaring, although it is deliciously drinkable now.

Very deep, bright, youthful purple/red colour, the nose smoky, earthy, spicy and meaty-charcuterie. The palate is rich and full-bodied, soft-textured and loaded with fleshy extract. The wine is lovely and full, supple, rounded, with an extra degree of concentration. There's a reductive note which breathes off with airing. Intense, elegant and powerful, but also long and satisfying.

The 2019 Le Sol is on par with the 2009 in terms of aromatic complexity and attraction. There's pomegranate pearls, raspberry, red licorice, layers of asphalt and graphite. I like this wine very much. It has composure and complexity in equal measure and, for me, sits alongside the 2009 as one of the most delicious, seductive wines in the lineup. I love a vertical for context. 13.6% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
