Jacquesson & Fils, established in 1798 by Memmie Jacquesson, is one of Champagne's oldest independent houses. The winery has a storied history, including the absorption of the Juglar house in 1829 and the invention of the muselet by Adolphe Jacquesson, which revolutionized champagne bottle closures. In 1974, Jean Chiquet acquired the estate, and his sons, Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet, have since led the winery, focusing on quality and sustainability.
Jacquesson is renowned for its numbered cuvées, such as Cuvée No. 744, which blend the current vintage with reserve wines to achieve consistency and complexity. The winery also produces exceptional single-vineyard champagnes, including those from the Grand Cru villages of Aÿ, Avize, and Oiry, and the Premier Cru villages of Dizy, Hautvillers, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. These wines are characterized by elegance, minerality, and low dosage, reflecting the unique terroirs of each vineyard.
Under the stewardship of the Chiquet brothers, Jacquesson & Fils has embraced organic and biodynamic viticulture, with a commitment to minimal intervention winemaking. This approach has garnered acclaim, positioning Jacquesson as a leader among grower Champagne houses.
