S.C. Pannell, founded in 2004, is the vision of Stephen Pannell, one of Australia’s most celebrated and influential winemakers. Alongside icons like Max Schubert, David Powell, and Dr. Bailey Carrodus, Stephen has played a pivotal role in shaping the Australian wine industry. His innovative work with Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet, and alternative varieties has laid the groundwork for a new generation of winemakers, inspiring them to explore fresh approaches and push the boundaries of Australian viticulture.Pannell’s story begins in Margaret River, where his family establish the famed Moss Wood vineyard. That pioneering spirit never left him. His early career took him to the hallowed regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy, Barolo, and Priorat, working in some of the most prestigious wineries in the world such as Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Domaine Comtes Lafon and G.D Vajra. During his career, Stephen has been the reciptent of several prestigious awards including Gourmet Traveller Winemaker of the Year, International Red Winemaker of the Year, Jimmy Watson Tropy twice, Max Schubert Tropy twice and four time winner of the Bushing King Tropy which represents the Best Red Wine in Mclaren Vale. Located in McLaren Vale, a region celebrated for its Mediterranean climate and diverse soils, S.C.
