More About The Producer

Pian dell'Orino is a distinguished winery located in the heart of Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy. Founded in 1997 by Caroline Pobitzer and Jan Hendrik Erbach, the estate spans 11.5 hectares, with 5.8 hectares dedicated to vineyards. Caroline, originally from Südtirol, managed her family’s historic vineyard, while Jan, a trained viticulturist from Germany, worked as an oenologist in France before settling in Montalcino. Together, they brought their experience and vision to produce wines that showcase the unique terroir of the region.

The winery is committed to organic and biodynamic farming practices, using Sangiovese grapes from various clones to produce wines of exceptional quality. The estate’s flagship wine, **Brunello di Montalcino Vigneti del Versante**, is crafted from specific vineyards and represents the depth of the region. The **Brunello di Montalcino Bassolino di Sopra**, produced from the highest elevation plot, is only made in select vintages and showcases the precision of their work. The **Rosso di Montalcino**, a younger expression of Sangiovese, provides an accessible introduction to their winemaking philosophy.

Under the leadership of Caroline and Jan, Pian dell'Orino has become a respected name in the Montalcino appellation, with wines that reflect balance, elegance, and a deep connection to the land.
