An argument can be made that Cédric Bouchard is the most exciting producer in the Champagne region. Known for his innovative and terroir-driven approach to winemaking, his wines are produced under the label Champagne Roses de Jeanne and have garnered widespread acclaim for their purity, precision and ability to express the distinct characteristics of individual vineyard sites.
Cédric Bouchard was born in 1975 in the village of Celles-sur-Ource located in the Aube region of Champagne. This southern part of Champagne was historically less celebrated than the more famous areas of Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs and the Vallée de la Marne, but Bouchard saw great potential in the terroirs of the Aube. In 2000 at only 25 years of age, Cédric founded his own estate - Champagne Roses de Jeanne, which pays homage to his grandmother Jeanne. From the beginning he has sought to challenge the norms of Champagne production with a focus on single-vineyard, single-variety and single-vintage wines - this is a radical departure from the traditional Champagne approach, which emphasizes blending and uniformity of production.
Due to his small production and extremely high demand, Bouchard’s champagnes are often difficult to find. They are considered some of the most coveted bottles in the grower Champagne world. Cedric Bouchard is one of the leaders in the new wave of exciting producers challenging the status quo in Champagne.
