More About The Producer

Chateau Palmer is one our favourite wines at The World of Wine. Château Palmer is classified a Third Growth, however Bordeaux afficionados know it often drinks at a level more consistent with First Growth production. It was established in 1814 when Charles Palmer, a British officer in the British Army, acquired the estate and expanded its reputation for producing high-quality wine. Palmer’s investment and dedication to quality made the château’s wines popular in British high society and the estate took his name as a mark of his influence. Château Palmer is situated on the left bank of Bordeaux in the Margaux appellation, which is known for its aromatic and elegant wines. Château Palmer’s vineyards cover approximately 66 hectares and are planted primarily with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a smaller proportion of Petit Verdot. Unusually for the Médoc, Merlot makes up about 47% of the vineyard.
