Château Léoville Poyferré, located in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux, boasts a rich history dating back to the 17th century. Originally part of the expansive Léoville estate, it was divided in 1840, resulting in the creation of three distinct châteaux: Léoville Las Cases, Léoville Barton, and Léoville Poyferré. The Poyferré portion was named after Baron Jean-Marie de Poyferré, who inherited the estate through marriage. In 1920, the Cuvelier family, renowned wine merchants, acquired Château Léoville Poyferré and have since been dedicated to enhancing its legacy.

The estate's flagship wine, Château Léoville Poyferré, is a blend predominantly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. This Grand Cru Classé is celebrated for its elegance, depth, and remarkable aging potential. Notable vintages, such as the 2018 release, have garnered critical acclaim for their complexity and balance. In addition to the Grand Vin, the estate produces a second wine, Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré, offering a more approachable yet still refined expression of the château's distinctive terroir.
