Coche Dury is known for producing some of the world’s most sought-after White Burgundies. There are few Domaines in Burgundy that garner, and rightfully deserve, as much praise than that of Coche Dury. And yet, for all of the superlatives used to describe this elusive producer, they are all justified.
Founded in the 1920s, the domaine is now led by Raphaël Coche, who took over from his father, Jean-François Coche-Dury, a legendary figure in winemaking. The legacy of Coche Dury elevated in 1975 when Jean-Francois married Odile Dury and subsequently adding her family holdings to form an incredible estate.
The results soon attracted serious attention. Jean-François, despite his bashful, often secretive nature, he reluctantly accepted superstardom. But amongst all of this, including Jancis Robinson declaring him "The King of Meursault”, his meticulous approach has never changed. Detail-driven viticulture is still the order of the day at this address, and Raphaël, his son, continues to practice these resolutely old-school values.
The wines, particularly the Meursault and Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, are renowned for their precision, minerality, and aging potential. Coche Dury uses long barrel aging and minimal intervention, resulting in wines that fetch record prices across global auctions.
